Roxborough Home for Women

Roxborough Home for Women is a 501 (c) (3) charity that has been providing superior personal care services in a safe, caring, and homelike community to women of reduced financial resources for over 138 years.

A Meaningful Day of Connection, Faith & Community This past Saturday, April 25, Roxborough Home for Women was honored to be represented at the 4th Annual Health & Wellness Expo hosted at Sanctuary United Methodist Church in North Wales, PA.Our very own Administrator, Athenae Evans, was invited to speak on behalf of the Montgomery County Multi Faith Coalition, delivering a powerful and inspiring presentation on“Aging with Meaning – Spirituality, Faith & Emotional Well-Being.”Through her words, Athenae shared the heart of our mission—uplifting the importance of compassionate care, spiritual connection, and emotional support as we journey through the later seasons of life.In addition to the presentation, Roxborough Home for Women proudly participated as an exhibitor, connecting with attendees of all ages and sharing information about our historic Home, our mission, and the loving community we provide. We were privileged to exhibit our Home next to Access Services of Montgomery County, another worthy charity serving the underprivileged and disadvantaged in our communities.Guests also had the opportunity to enter our raffle gift basket filled with goodies and information about how to stay connected with us—we loved meeting so many wonderful new faces!A special thank you to Pam Michaels, who joined Athenae and warmly welcomed visitors at our exhibition table throughout the event.Events like these remind us how important it is to build bridges across communities, share resources, and celebrate the value of aging with dignity, purpose, and faith.Be sure to check out the photos from the day, featuring Athenae, Pam, our exhibit table, and our exhibition neighbor, Access Services, hosted by K. Tizzard —we’re so grateful to have been part of such a meaningful event!#RoxboroughHomeForWomen #AgingWithMeaning #FaithAndWellness #CommunityCare #SeniorLivingWithDignity #NonprofitImpact #HealthAndWellness #MontgomeryCountyPA #WomenSupportingWomen #CompassionInAction #SpiritualWellBeing #ServingWithLove ... 🌎💚 Earth Day Remembrance at Roxborough Home for Women 💚🌎On this Earth Day, April 22 at 2:00 PM, we invite our friends, families, and community to join us for a special and heartfelt memorial ceremony in our Memorial Garden.Together, we will pause to remember and honor the lives of the remarkable women who were once part of our Home—women who shared in our community, our laughter, and our love. Though they have moved on to their eternal home, they remain forever part of our story. We will hold in special remembrance those who have passed in recent months, including Joyce Gallagher, who left us on March 22 at the age of 93. During the ceremony, we will place a memorial stone in her honor alongside those of other cherished women who have gone before her. This gathering is a time of reflection, gratitude, and connection—to one another, to the legacy of those we remember, and to the beauty of life that surrounds us.We would be honored to have you join us as we celebrate their lives, support one another, and give thanks for the enduring spirit of our Roxborough Home community.📍 Roxborough Home for Women – Memorial Garden🕑 April 22 | 2:00 PM#EarthDay #roxboroughhome #inlovingmemory #CommunityOfCare #HonoringLives #LegacyOfLove #MemorialGarden #ForeverRemembered #gratitude #philadelphiacommunity ... An Historic Honor in the Heart of Roxborough! We are filled with gratitude and honor to share that the Roxborough Home for Women has been featured on a Liberty Bell replica located at 6172 Ridge Avenue in Roxborough—part of the inspiring “Bells Across PA” project! (See photos below )A special thank you to Roxborough's own Jax Cusack for bringing this wonderful recognition to our attention! As part of the Commonwealth’s celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States in 2026, the Bells Across PA initiative showcases 108 artist-designed, 3-foot Liberty Bell replicas across all 67 counties—with 22 bells right here in Philadelphia. Our Roxborough community’s bell, located in the Pocket Park on Ridge Avenue, beautifully reflects the history, culture, and spirit of this special neighborhood. For over a century, the Roxborough Home for Women has been part of that story. Founded in 1887, our Home has deep roots connected to the legacy of the Furness family, one of Philadelphia’s most influential architects, and is tied to the broader network of early founding families, such as Gorgas, Shipley, Rittenhouse, Levering, and Bunting who helped shape our community's and city’s character and compassion. From those early beginnings to today, our mission has remained steadfast—providing a nurturing, dignified home for women in need.To be represented on this bell—standing as a symbol of freedom, resilience, and community—is truly meaningful. It is a tribute not only to our history, but to the generations of residents, staff, supporters, and neighbors who have made Roxborough Home for Women a place of care, connection, and belonging. We invite our friends, neighbors, and supporters to stop by, take a look, and celebrate with us this incredible honor!#RoxboroughHomeForWomen #BellsAcrossPA #Philly250 #PhiladelphiaHistory #RoxboroughPride #CommunityStrong #WomenSupportingWomen #NonprofitLife #HistoricPhiladelphia #Gratitude #CelebrateCommunity #LibertyBellLegacy ...
